Linear Transformer Boasts Unique Profile

Oct. 1, 2000

Said to be the lowest profile linear transformer in the industry in its VA range, UI30/10.5 Series employs a transformer that sits in a pc board, not on it. The transformer's height is evenly distributed avobe and below the board. Pins exit through a stepped flange on the two ends of the transformer, which rests on the component side of the board. The length of the transformer is increased slightly from the conventional pc-mounted transformer size to allow for the new pin configuration. The UI30, which delivers 6 VA at 70°C ambient, reduces the height above the pc bard from 22 mm to 11 mm with board area increasing from 44 mm x 53 mm to 45 mm x 63 mm. Performance is unchanged by the new design.
