These custom, precision die-cut foam light guides are claimed to be ideal for use on telecomm printed circuit boards. The guides are produced from a low-density, closed-cell neoprene sponge material and are used to channel light from LEDs on a pc board to an indicator panel. The foam material is designed to fit snugly over the LED array and is the proper height to prevent light bleed from a contiguous LED, so light is only visible at the appropriate location on the panel. This is said to result in a crisper, cleaner LED display. In addition to featuring a low-cost foam material, the guides are also flexible, lightweight and supple enough to compensate for tolerance build-ups between the position of individual LEDs.
