HDM Stacking Connectors Offer High Speed And High Densities

Feb. 1, 2001

The electrical performance of most traditional board-to-board connectors is said to be surpassed by this new line of HDM stacking connectors. More rugged than smaller mezzanine products, the connectors are suited for connecting sub-systems in inter-networking and high-end computing and telecomm equipment. They offer a combination of robust mechanical performance and high-speed, high-density signal capabilities, providing 72 circuits per linear inch.
The connectors are available with solder tail or press-fit pins in 72- or 144-circuit segments, offering a simple building block design. Optional polarizing and mating features of stainless steel guidance pins and end walls enable easy installation in blind-mating applications. Pricing for the HDM stacking connectors depends on circuit size, style and quantity. When purchased in quantities of 50,000, the connector costs $0.11 per mated line.
