The VSC120 dual-ported, Fibre Channel enclosure management controller monitors and controls the workings inside a storage enclosure. This environment includes power monitoring, fan operation, intrusion and temperature levels.The device includes a 32-bit, 53 MHz RISC CPU that operates in initiator and/or target modes, 1 Gb/s and 2 Gb/s Fibre Channel serial transceivers, and redundant data paths. To aid firmware development, four I2C serial interface bus master controllers and two UARTs are also included. Other on-board features include PWM control and up to 34 bits of user-definable, general-purpose I/O with eight external interrupts. Price is $55 each/1,000. A development kit is also available.
