The Model 4850 PS/2 Keyboard, Video, and Mouse (KVM) witch is designed for applications where multiple PC servers are used. In this setting, the company says these switches have the ability to reduce hardware costs and energy consumption costs and save data center space. The 4850 eliminates the need for a keyboard, monitor, and mouse dedicated to each server; one KVM switch at a centralized location can control up to 16 servers. The switch emulates all keyboard and mouse protocols to CPUs and setup signals to the keyboard mouse. It maintains all keyboard and mouse configurations, allowing the shared keyboard and mouse be automatically configured to each CPU as the user switches from port to port. Four front-panel LEDs indicate CPU connection status. Available in desktop and rackmount formats, the Model 4850 comes in 4-, 8-, 12-, and 16-port versions.
