Based on a low-power 166 MHz or 266 MHz Pentium processor, the SBC2596 EBX single-board computer includes on-board GPS timing for synchronizing information from remote data acquisition (DAQ) systems to within 190 ns, while providing location and altitude. The 8" x 5.75" board provides up to 32 channels of 16-bit a/d and four channels of 14-bit d/a conversion with temperature compensation. The CPU and chipset include AT-compatible PCI, USB, EIDE, ISA, SDRAM, interrupt, timer, and DMA controllers. Other features include up to 128 MB of SDRAM, a compact flash socket, four serial ports, isolated CAN Bus interface, parallel port, keyboard, mouse, and floppy-disk ports, and a watchdog timer. Further I/O expansion is possible via PC/104 and PC/104+ cards. Additionally, the board can boot DOS, Linux, Windows CE/NT Embedded, VxWorks, and other PC-compatible operating systems.
