Freeing up precious board by 38%, the 0.89" x 0.417" x 2.3" KIE014 series eighth-brick, intermediate bus converter provides an output up to 14A. The open frame converter relies on advanced synchronous rectification technologies to achieve efficiencies up to 94% and is suitable for powering non-isolated, point-of load converters within an intermediate bus (I-Bus) distributed power architecture. High efficiency results from the reduction of switching losses via a proprietary driver IC within a smart dc transformer, which also minimizes component count. Price for the converter is $39 each/1,000. For more details, contact Gorden Mack, XP FORESIGHT, Sunnyvale, CA. (408) 524-8561. XPIQ INC., Holliston, MA. (508) 429-9883.
