After an update to the original performance categorization of 3 Gb/s to 5 Gb/s, the Z-PACK HM-Zd hard-metric connectors are now categorized as being capable of supporting serial data rates up to 10 Gb/s. This specification update provides a future upgrade path for users who selected the connectors for their XAUI-based systems. Additionally, the company has submitted ATCA-based Z-PACK HM-Zd channel data to the IEEE 802.3ap Backplane Ethernet Task Force for use in analyzing different signaling modulation schemes. The channel data is representative of different architectures, scenarios, and FR-4 board materials, and can be used to determine the best overall solution for the market.
