Described as a low-cost tool providing a complete development environment with optional stand-alone operation for MCU-based wireless systems, the eZ430-RF2500 comes in a USB stick form factor. Groomed for systems employing MSP430 MCUs, the unit packs two RF-ready MCU target boards and a PC debugging interface that can be used to develop stand-alone wireless projects. It provides all the hardware and software needed to program the MSP430 plus the 2.4-GHz transceiver and requires no additional driver software. A battery pack is also included, enabling a target board to operate as a stand-alone system. Additionally, standard through-hole pin connectors support external components or existing systems needing to attach to the target board. With full documentation, single-unit price is $49. Additional eZ430-RF2500T target boards will be available by the fourth quarter for $20. TEXAS INSTRUMENTS INC., Dallas, TX. (800) 477-8924.
