Suitable for use in AdvancedTCA, MicroTCA, and proprietary platforms, the AM110/10x Advanced Mezzanine Card (AMC) supports either the 2.16-GHz or 1.5-GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor. For embedded applications, the single-width, full-height processor module includes an optional onboard application flash disk of up to 8 Gbytes. The card is well-suited for a wide range of applications in the communication, defense, security, and industrial markets. Each of the processors includes 4 Mbytes of L2 cache (shared between the cores), and each supports 64-bit operating systems. A composite benchmark test on the card showed the relative performance of the 2.16-GHz processor to be 1.8 times faster than the 1.5-GHz device. To enhance overall memory and I/O performance, the AM110/10x uses the Intel 3100 chipset, which combines server-class memory and I/O controller functions in one component. The Intel 3100 interfaces to up to 8 Gbytes DDR2-400 ECC memory via two registered SODIMMs, with a peak memory bandwidth of 3.2 Gbytes/s. The module features two USB 2.0 ports and an RS-232 port. Also, a Gigabit Ethernet port, USB 2.0 port, and RS-232 port are accessible via the front panel. For easy integration, the card supports many leading operating systems, including Linux, Windows 2000, Windows Server 2003, Windows XP, Windows XP Embedded, and QNX.
