DA7211 Audio Codecs Land In Sony Portables

Dec. 8, 2010

Sony’s adoption of Dialog Semiconductor’s DA7211 audio IC is already paying dividends—the device has already found a home in Sony’s recently launched series of compact digital recorders. According to Dialog, the DA7211 is the industry's lowest-power audio codec.

The DA7211 comes with a simple-to-use interface and general-purpose filter, which enables manufacturers to optimise the output signal for small on-board speakers and enclosures, delivering even complex 3D spatial effects.

Sony's latest IC recorders incorporate its proprietary and advanced S-Mic recording technology. It includes dual analogue-to-digital converters for wider dynamic range and improved signal-to-noise ratio.

“Validation of our new audio technology through these design wins at Sony, a premier globally recognised consumer brand, represents an important milestone for Dialog,” says Udo Kratz, vice president and general manager for audio and power management at Dialog.
