NI-XNET Platform Supports LIN

July 27, 2010
National Instrument's NI-XNET offerings bring Local Interconnect Network (LIN) support to the table.

NI PXI-8516 2-Port NI-XNET LIN Interface, PXI

National Instruments' NI-XNET line has two new boards target Local Interconnect Network (LIN) development. The NI PXI-8516 (PXI version) and NI PCI-8516 (PCI version) LIN interface cards provide links into a LIN network providing access to LabVIEW applications. The can be used for real-time, high-speed manipulation of LIN traffic supporting applications such as hardware-in-the-loop simulation, rapid control prototyping, bus monitoring and automation control.

The NI PXI-8516 and NI PCI-8516 are a 2-port LIN interface with onboard ATA6620 transceivers. It supports transfer rates up to 40 kbit/s. The NI-XNET device-driven DMA engine minimizes message latency. The boards are supported by NI LabVIEW, NI LabWindows/CVI and C/C++ for Windows and LabVIEW Real-Time OSs. The cards are available in PXI and PCI form factors.
