Self promoted as the industry's smallest, fastest, and most power efficient RF power detector, the MAX2209A 800 MHz to 2 GHz RF power detector achieves a 140-ns RF step-response time. In terms of efficiency, it consumes 3.9 mA of quiescent current and 25 μA in shutdown. Additionally, its 1 mm² UCSP package saves board space in small form factor designs. Other features include a power detection range of -25 dBm to -5 dBm and a consistent, linear output-voltage-to-input-power relationship across the entire frequency range. Partto-part residual error over temperature is ±0.1 dB over the input power range. The MAX2209A operates from a 2.7V to 5V supply and over a temperature range from -40°C to +85°C. Available in a four-pin, 1 mm x 1 mm UCSP package, prices start at $0.56 each/1,000. MAXIM INTEGRATED PRODUCTS, Sunnyvale, CA. (800) 998-8800.
