AMD FirePro 2270
AMD’s affordable FirePro 2270 dual-port graphics adapter bridges the gap between legacy VGA and the latest DisplayPort adapters (see the figure). The DMS-59 connector handles DVI, and adapter cables support VGA and DisplayPort. The board handles PCI Express x1 and x16 interfaces. This low-profile, half-length card’s passive cooling design and 8- to 15-W power envelope make it ideal for embedded applications. The $149 card has 512 Mbytes of RAM and supports OpenGL 4.1 and DirectX 11. OpenGL drivers for Windows and Linux are optimized for CAD applications. This adapter enables designers to address existing VGA and DVI displays as well as newer DisplayPort displays with a single platform. Also, AMD’s ATI FirePro V5800 DVI Professional Graphics card has 800 stream processors on the chip and 1 Gbyte of DDR5 onboard. It uses less than 75 W and has a pair of DVI connections.
