Claimed to be the industry's first 50W single-output dc/dc converter to measure just 1" x 2" x 0.38", the PowerWatt series of surface-mount converters yields efficiencies of up to 92%, the result of a patent-pending design that employs improved synchronous rectification techniques and planar magnetics. The series also includes through-hole T versions of the converters that measure 1" x 2" x 0.43". Capable of operation without a heatsink, the new dc/dc converters provide input-to-output isolation, a 2:1 input-voltage range, soft start, short-circuit protection, thermal protection, and under-voltage protection. Transient response time is 50 µs, off-state current draw is 150µA, and power density is specified at 66W/in.3. For further information and prices, contact BETA DYNE INC., Bridgewater, MA.
