Copper Mountain Adds 4.8-GHz Models to Compact VNA Line

August 28, 2013. Copper Mountain Technologies has released its new 5048 vector network analyzers, adding to the company's compact VNA line. The VNAs combine a standard feature set with a compact size suitable for many applications. The latest additions to this series—the TR5048 (two-port, one-path) and S5048 (two-port, two-path) VNAs—offer magnitude and phase measurements from 20 kHz to 4.8 GHz. Like other Copper Mountain models, these new instruments also include time-domain operation with gating, fixture simulation, embedding and de-embedding, and a frequency-offset mode for mixer/converter testing.

Each instrument is fully programmable using COM/DCOM SCPI automation. With a weight of 2.9 lbs., 5048 provides accurate measurements and a variety of analysis capabilities in the frequency and time domains. The instruments characterize S-parameters in a variety of presentation formats.

Operated by an external PC, each VNA has 16 logical channels with up to 16 traces each. Any test results can be saved in a variety of formats for post-processing. If post-processing of the results is required, the user can save the data on the PC and carry it over into any further software application without multiple points of data transfer. The storage of VNA data on an external PC makes the device useful for sharing between multiple users, or even to deploy in a security-heightened area.

Features include a 125-dB dynamic range, 200,001 measurement points, and 200-µs measurement time per point. Each VNA measures 12.8 x 16.3 x 3.8 inches.
