Electronic devices can provide feedback in a number of ways, from running a motor to cause vibrations to flipping a light on and off. Various display technologies have been developed and many were superseded by newer display technologies. It definitely makes a developer’s life challenging to balance performance, cost, availability, and interfacing when it comes to displays.
This tour of display technologies is not exhaustive, but hopefully fun. We would like to hear about your experiences with new and old display technologies.
