Coax Cables Mated To Ultra-Mini Connectors

April 1, 1999

The coaxial cables can be terminated with SMT connectors having a mated height of a mere 2.5 mm and occupying only 7.7 mm2 of board space. The ultra-miniature, lightweight (5.7 mg) U.FL coax connectors are suitable for use in portable products such as portable and mobile phones, PDAs, and electronic measuring instruments. They have a VSWR of 1.3 or less from dc to 3 GHz and can be mated with 0.8-mm O.D., single-layer shielded and 1.32-mm O.D., double-layer shielded cables.
