Providing an alternative to more costly optical-based components, the MY3124 XAUI-to-XAUI re-timing transceiver permits 10-Gb/s Ethernet data transfers over copper cables. The transceiver features a dual 10-Gb Ethernet interface with programmable data rates from 1 Gb/s to 3.1875 Gb/s. Said to perform beyond the requirements of the IEEE 802.ak draft by about 60%, the new device extends its reach over copper cable up to 25m. Other features include eight independent serial channels, a power consumption of 1.9W, and five adjustable link parameters: transmit, amplitude, pre-emphasis, equalization, and input impedance. Samples are available now and high-volume pricing is $50 each. MYSTICOM, Mountain View, CA. (650) 210-8080.
