Analog Device Eases Embedded Modem Development

The 73M1901 software modem, analog front end (AFE) promises to simplify the design and production of embedded modems, with the AFE including a 16-bit codec and a fully differential hybrid circuit; it also supports data rates from low-speed V.22bis up to V.9a at 56 Kb/s. Similar to the company's K-Series and 73M2901 series single-chip modems, the 73M1901 supports on-chip transformer DAA line sensing and control and loop back, as well as providing two power conserving operating modes. In addition, the device is compatible with a variety of popular processors and modem data pumps and can be configured for CTR-21, FCC and other worldwide telecomm standards. Sampling now, the device is available in a 32-pin TQFP and is priced at under $3 each/1,000. TDK SEMICONDUCTOR CORP., Tustin, CA. (714) 508-8800.
