\[October 4, 2006\] A new family of WiMAX transceivers is claimed as the first such fully integrated, high-performance devices specifically for mobile and handheld applications. The 2.3- to 2.4-GHz UXF23480 is designed for use in North America and Australia, and the 2.5- to 2.7-GHz UXF23460 is designed for use in Taiwan, Japan, North America, and Europe. Both are fully IEEE-802.16e compliant. The transceivers’ high integration levels minimize the need for additional components and reduce design time, speeding up time to market. The devices also feature low power consumption, a noise figure of less than 3 dB, and high adjacent-channel rejection. The transceivers offer a seamless handover from basestation to basestation, and work with a variety of basebands by using analog I/Q and serial interfacing. They are compatible with cellular, WLAN, and Bluetooth standards. The UXF23480/60 are in volume production and available immediately. NXP SEMICONDUCTORS. San Jose, CA. (408) 474-8142.
