Compliant with stringent IEC 1000-4-2 specifications, LT1780 and LT1781 dual RS-232 transceivers provide ESD protection up to 15 kV. The LT1780 has a shutdown mode for power savings in battery operated applications while the LT1781 comes in an industry-standard footprint. Each device has two RS-232 drivers, two receivers and operate from a single 5V supply, eliminating the traditional ±12V requirement. The internal charge pump requires four small 0.1 µF capacitors. Shutdown power consumption is 1 µA. Driver outputs are protected from overload and shorts up to ±30V.
