Focus Enhancements, an advanced proprietary video and wireless video technologies designer based in Campbell, Calif., is now offering ultra wideband (UWB) evaluation systems targeting the development of both personal computer and consumer electronics applications.

The UWB platform contains a PCI card with proprietary digital and analog UWB chips. The system was demonstrated in WiMEDIA MB-OFDM UWB mode earlier this month.

Focus Enhancements presented its TALARIA UWB technology, which is aimed at computer, mobile communications, and audio/video consumer electronics, at the 2006 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) earlier this year. TALARIA is a total UWB wireless solution designed to provide interoperability with the WiMedia UWB Standard and the Wireless USB implementation of WiMedia UWB technology. It uses both WiMedia MB-OFDM and the company's DS-OFDM modulation techniques. It is expected to provide transmission rates of up to 800 Mbits/s at ranges of up to 8 meters and 37 Mbits/s at a range of 40 meters.
