Power consumption of less than 150 mW at an operating temperature of 25ºC is provided by the VF37RT, a precision resonator thermostat targeted for use in SARSAT/COSPAS applications. The device is also suited for use in GPS equipment, mobile measuring equipment and instrumentation. It's available in a frequency range of 8 MHz to 20 MHz. The vacuum-sealed enclosure contains a third-overtone, SC-cut crystal with integral 12V temperature controller. Incorporation of direct heating technology translates into fast warmup time of less than 15 seconds. Frequency stability is less than 2 x 10-8 over a temperature range of -20ºC to 70ºC. Other features include superior aging characteristics of ±0.001 ppm/day and ±0.1 ppm/year. The device comes in a small 5-pin metal package. Users may specify VCC from 5V to 12V (±5% or ±10%). Lead times are eight to 10 weeks.
