Smart Sensor Simplifies LIN-bus Applications

The first member of the HAL 28xy smart sensor family, the HAL 2810, debuts as the first linear Hall-effect sensor to include a programmable eight-bit microcontroller with boot ROM, EEPROM, and RAM, and a LIN bus 2.0 interface. The device integrates the sensing element, all necessary compensation functions, digital signal processing, and full LIN bus connectivity. Suitable for replacing potentiometers in automotive applications, viable applications include angular measurements and passenger weight detection. Other features include a 12-bit resolution and both spinning-current and second-order temperature compensation. Available in a TO-92UT package with an operating temperature range from -40°C to +140°C, price is $2 each/10,000. MICRONAS SEMICONDUCTOR HOLDING AG, Zurich, Switzerland. +41-1-445-3960.
