Providing access to the company’s popular 32-bit microcontroller architectures, the ColdFire V2 ColdFire core is available now for licensing through intellectual property (IP) licensing specialists IPextreme. A license for the core allows users to create their own ASICs pairing a ColdFire core with their proprietary technology. Based on a memory-configurable hierarchical architecture that is synthesizable, the core is designed for software reuse and ease of integration into custom designs. ASIC designs based on the V2 core will be software compatible with all ColdFire standard products and cycle accurate with V2-based devices. A standard product platform including the V2 core is available now that includes a set of tested peripherals. FREESCALE SEMICONDUCTOR INC., Austin, TX. (800) 521-6274.
