Reprogrammable, radiation-tolerant, and optimized for high-performance logic, DSP, and embedded processing, the Virtex-4QV family of FPGAs are reportedly the first such devices for space applications to offer multiple platforms meeting the processing needs of video, audio, radar streams, and packet processing functions. In addition to the reconfigurable logic fabric and large memory, the FPGAs integrate advanced embedded computing and DSP technology in a single chip. Based on the four highest performance, largest capacity devices across the three Virtex-4 platform, the Virtex-4QV family offers up to 200,000 logic cells, 10 Mb of RAM/FIFO, two PowerPC processor blocks with an auxiliary processing unit controller, 512 DSP slices, and four Ethernet MAC blocks. Support for the devices includes the TMRTool and single-event upset mitigation solutions plus an embedded development kit containing the Platform Studio suite. The XQR4VLX200, XQR4VSX55, and XQR4VFX60 devices are available now and the XQR4VFX140 will be available in the third quarter. For further details and prices, call XILINX INC., San Jose, CA.
