The Fx100100-4-EX and Fx100100S-4-EX VDSL2 chipsets for optical network unit (ONU) and subscriber located equipment (SLE), respectively, extend the range of symmetric 100/100 Mb/s service up to 80% while enabling fanless equipment design. Both chipsets are designed to deliver VDSL2 and VDSL services in multi-tenant unit and multi-dwelling unit applications. Additionally, the Fx100100-4-EX chipset consumes up to 30% less power than its first-generation predecessor, the Fx100100. The Fx100100-4-EX for ONU equipment consists of an 8-port DSP engine, 4-port analog front end, and a single-port integrated front end. Groomed for SLE, the Fx100100S-4-EX provides a single-port DSP engine and single-port IFE, which integrates d/a and a/d converters, a line driver, low-noise amplifier, and filters. Chipset evaluation systems are available as well as production quantities. IKANOS COMMUNICATIONS INC., Fremont, CA. (510) 979-0400.
