VXI Slot-0 Controller Boasts Pentium M Power

Dec. 15, 2006
With an embedded Pentium M processor and clocking to 1.8 GHz, the V155 VXI controller from KineticSystems also includes dual Ethernet controllers.

The V155 is a single-width C-size VXI slot-0 controller featuring a high-performance Pentium M embedded processor and 1.1-, 1.6-, and 1.8-GHz clocking options. The module, from KineticSystems, incorporates dual Ethernet controllers that support 10BaseT, 100BaseTX, and 1000BaseT interfaces, which enable direct local-area network (LAN) access for quick and easy connectivity with new LXI-based systems. The device also includes up to 2 Gbytes of bootable flash on a secondary IDE, up to 1.5 Gbytes of PC1600 DDR SDRAM, and one PMC expansion site for user expandability for FDDI, compactFlash, GPIB, Fibre Channel, FPDP, etc.

The V155 also supports the VXI Plug&Play Virtual Instruments Systems Architecture (VISA) Library with included Resource Manager (Resman). The VISA industry-standard I/O control library allows modules to be controlled via several interfaces with the same I/O function calls. The controller is well-suited for high-performance data-acquisition and control applications, such as aerospace and aircraft testing, and high-performance automated test equipment.
