Agilent Technologies Inc. has joined the effort to bring high-speed wireless broadband to the global market through the Long Term Evolution/System Architecture Evolution (LTE/SAE) technology. The company has joined the LTE/SAE Trial Initiative, which is designed to validate the technology’s capability. As such it is the only company to contribute to LTE interoperability testing and field trials from physical layer air interface testing through protocol layer test and network diagnostics, according to Agilent.
The LTE/SAE Trial initiative is comprised of global companies dedicated to verifying LTE’s ability to achieve the performance needed to give a true broadband experience on mobile devices. It is divided into three main phases: proof of concept, interoperability, and trial. Joint testing and reporting of ongoing results will continue to the end of 2009, with initial LTE system deployments scheduled for 2010.
“As a leader in the measurement industry, Agilent is fully committed to providing solutions for the entire LTE development lifecycle,” said Ron Nersesian, vice president of Agilent’s Wireless Business Unit. “With our membership in the LTE/SAE Trial Initiative, we plan to use our comprehensive measurement expertise to significantly contribute to the full delivery of LTE to the marketplace.”
