Tiny Camera Modules Take Stills And Full-Motion Video

Aug. 1, 2001

Competent in still-image and full-motion video applications, two CMOS image sensors feature an integral lens for size-constrained, built-in camera applications such as cellular phones, toys, PDAs, and watches. By combining the lens with the image sensor, the modules measure just 8 mm x 8 mm x 8 mm for the ICM-105Ala and 8 x 8 x 5.8 mm for the ICM-102 Ala. The ICM-105Ala provides 640 x 480 VGA resolution, while the ICM-102Ala provides 352 x 288 CIF resolution. The ICM-105Ala sensor/lens module is priced at $24.50 each/1,000, while the ICM-102Ala is priced at $19.50 each/1,000. IC MEDIA CORP., San Jose, Calif (408) 451-8838.
