The DS1845 is said to be the industry's first dual potentiometer with integrated memory, specifically designed for use with gigabit transceiver modules. The device combines two linear-taper potentiometers with a 256-byte EEPROM and in-circuit programmability via a two-wire interface.
Users configure the device's dual 100-position and 256-position outputs with application-specific settings that are stored in nonvolatile memory. By integrating memory with two differently configured potentiometers, a single device replaces multiple parts. The interface allows drop-in compatibility with existing software written for standard two-wire EEPROM as well as circuit updates. In a TSSOP, pricing is $1.73 each/1,000.
