Analog Switch And Multiplexer Family Suits Precision Signal Processing Apps

June 1, 2002

Pin and function compatible companions to higher voltage CMOS industry-standard analog switches and multiplexers, the L Series is comprised of high-bandwidth, high-throughput devices for use in precision signal processing applications, including professional audio and video equipment, test and measurement systems, and networks, DSL modems, and other communications and computing systems. The new family of low-voltage analog switches and multiplexers is specified for 2.7V to 12V single supplies or ±3V or ±6V dual supply operation. Maximum on-resistance ranges from only 29 to 80 ohms, providing low power dissipation. Flat performance over the full drain voltage and temperature range provides less variation between signals. The family presently has 10 members, each having a simple logic interface, break-before-make switching action, and ESD protection to 2,000V. It includes: five monolithic quad SPST analog switches (DG411L/12L/13L/41L/42L); two single SPST analog switches (DG417L/418L); a single SPDT analog switch (DG419L); and two precision analog multiplexers, the 8-channel DG408L and dual 4-channel DG409L. The analog switches and multiplexers are said to deliver faster, more accurate performance with lower power dissipation than existing devices. In narrow-body SOIC-16 or TSSOP-16 packages, the devices have a starting price of less than $0.50 each/100,000. VISHAY SILICONIX, Santa Clara, CA. (408) 988-8000.
