PC/104 Cards Make Rapid Hi-Res A/D Conversions

May 1, 2001

Battery-powered and medical instruments, ATE, and spectrum analyzers are among the products expected to tap the resources of two new PC/104 data acquisition cards equipped with two 12-bit vertical resolution, synchronous, high-speed differential input channels. The 25-MSPS CS225 and 40-MSPS CS240 modules also provide both analog and TTL trigger inputs, 32-bit digital I/O, four high-speed multiplexed A/D inputs, and four 12-bit D/A outputs. All digital I/O are accessible via a 34-pin header, and both modules have software-selectable memory of up to 32K/channel with post- and pre-triggering selectable in 1-sample increments.
Powered by a 5V supply and drawing only 5W, the PC/104 digitizers come with a factory-configured, fixed bipolar input of ±5V, ±2.5V, ±1V or ±0.5V (unipolar is optional), while the module's timebase is user-programmable at 40, 20, 10, 5, 2.50 and 1.25 MHz. The CS225 and CS240 modules can be installed on SBCs having PC/104 headers or in standard PCs equipped with adapters, include DOS Turbo C and Pascal drivers and Windows 3.1/95/98/NT DLL drivers, and cost $2,295 and $2,495 each, respectively (OEM prices up to 60% lower).
