Current Sense Monitor Provides Low Offset

May 1, 2002
Said to provide a cost-effect way of accurately measuring load current with a high-side sense resistor, the ZXCT 1010 high-side current sense monitor sports a separate pin to ground that improves typical output offset from 500 mV to 30 µV.

Said to provide a cost-effect way of accurately measuring load current with a high-side sense resistor, the ZXCT 1010 high-side current sense monitor sports a separate pin to ground that improves typical output offset from 500 mV to 30 µV. Monitoring the voltage across a shunt resistor and translating it into proportional current, the monitor uses a single scaling resistor to convert the current into a ground referenced output voltage. This approach is said to eliminate disruption of the ground plane. Other features include a sense accuracy of 1%, quiescent current of 4 µA, and an operating voltage range from 20V down to 2.5V. Available in an SOT23-5 package, price is $0.54 each/1,000. ZETEX INC., Hauppauge, NY. (631) 360-2222.
