Entering the market as a cost-effective component for high-volume production, the 6500 sub-miniature thermostat exploits bimetal heat sensing technology to detect temperature and open or close a set of contacts. It comes in a modified TO-220 package that is suitable for both surface and air sensing and operates in temperatures from 40°C to 130°C. The component maintains its accuracy over 30,000 cycles and is said to provide an accurate indication of temperature regardless of current. Other features include a contact rating of 1A at 48 Vdc and 1A at 120 Vac with a tolerance of ±7°C. For price, call AIRPAX CORP., Frederick, MD. (301) 663-5141.
