Brushless Servo Drives Have Built-In Smarts

March 1, 1999

Providing all-digital positioning servo control with DeviceNet networking, Intelligent Series brushless servo drives can replace separate motion controller and drive combinations with the simplicity of a single, serial DeviceNet field bus link to a host. These drives are operated from ac lines of 115 or 230 vac, eliminating the need for a power transformer. Four models are available with rated continuous output currents of 3A, 6A, 10A or 20A with continuous power from 1.1 to 7.6 kW. Encoder- and resolver-equipped brushless motors are accommodated. Firm's APImate software, running on a host desktop or laptop, provides an easy-to-use interface for setup, diagnostics, tuning and programming.
