At less than $30 each in 10K quantities, the AC4490 900-MHz spread spectrum transceiver is said to be less than half the price of similarly specified modules on the market. The RF module is designed to provide, via serial TTL-level interconnects, transparent bi-directional wireless communication in point-to-point and point-to-multipoint client/server or peer-to-peer networks using the company's RF232 protocol. RF232 allows the tiny, 1.65" x 1.9" AC4490 to be used as a direct cable replacement requiring no special host software for communication. The module employs FHSS technology and supports data rates up to 115.2 Kbps. AEROCOMM INC., Lenexa, KS. (800) 492-2320.
