Tiny ADSL Transformers Allow More Ports On CO Circuit Boards

The devices in a new family of miniature ADSL transformers reduce the board space used on high-density access equipment in telephone providers' central offices (COs). This lets service providers increase the number of available ports on any given access card, thereby serving more customers from their COs. Optimized for use in CO equipment like digital subscriber line access multiplexers, the transformers also can be used in customer premise equipment like modems and residential gateways.

These transformers isolate the telephone line from the analog driver and receiver. They provide supplementary insulation with a minimum working voltage of 250 V. Also, they meet or exceed numerous safety agency standards, including UL, BABT, and TUV. Available in standard gull-wing or j-lead surface-mount packages, they can withstand high-temperature solder reflow processes and are compatible with pick-and-place equipment.

Available in tape-and-reel packaging at 175 units per reel, pricing is $0.85 each in 10,000-unit lots. Volume discounts are available.
