Capable of generating high-fidelity RF signals up to 2.5 GHz, the Si4133W is a dual-band RF synthesizer designed for third-generation wireless communications. Unlike conventional approaches requiring voltage-controlled oscillator modules and discrete component filtering, the device integrates the entire solution in a monolithic CMOS chip. The device meets the synthesizer performance requirements for W-CDMA, one of the standards approved for use in third-generation cellular systems. The signal output of the chip stabilizes to an accuracy of 0.1 ppm in 200 µs, meeting the compressed mode requirements of W-CDMA. It performs RF synthesis in two bands as well as IF synthesis from 62.5 MHz to 1.0 GHz. Pricing for the Si4133W is $7.50 each/10,000. Samples are available as well as an evaluation board for $150.
