An addition to the SH-Mobile series application processors for next-generation mobile phones, the SH-MobileV2 processor, provides an advanced 3-D gaming platform with image-processing functions and enhanced performance for Java-based applications. The device is based on the SuperH RISC architecture and offers functionality such as an on-chip MPEG-4 accelerator, extension interfaces for connectivity, and effective power management capabilities. It is also said to be the industry's first such device to integrate a LCD controller for advanced TFT LCD panels. Features include a UXGA camera interface, 2D/3D graphics engine, and a built-in sound source. The 32-bit, 133-MHz SH3-DSP CPU core integrates DSP functions, a cache, and 192 KB of RAM for user-defined functions. On-chip peripherals include a color management unit, video output unit, IrDA interface, and a USB 2.0 interface. The device is available in a 408-pin CSP and is supported by a development platform equipped with a keyboard, small LCD panel, and cell-phone-class camera.
