For point-to-point connections requiring data rates of more than 400 Mb/s, the PI90LVxxx family of 3V, Low-Voltage Differential Signaling (LVDS) drivers and receivers are for telecomm applications such as central office, PBXs, switches, repeaters and base stations, and datacomm uses such as hubs or routers, digital cameras, printers and copiers. The family is compatible with industry standards, ANSI/TIA/EIA-644 and IEEE 1596.3 SCI specifications. An LVDS driver converts a TTL signal into a ±350 mV differential signal, and an LVDS receiver converts the differential signal back to TTL. This lets designers implement point-to-point connections with hot board swapping capabilities.
