Backplane LC Connector Interfaces High-End Systems

May 1, 2000

Developed for use in high-density datacomm and telecomm systems, this blind-mate, backplane connector system features the small form-factor of the LC connector and is designed to provide a reliable connection between active devices terminated on pc boards and fiber-optic components on the backplane. Applications include computers, broadband equipment, and transmission, switching and multiplexing systems. Other features of the backplane LC connector include an RJ-45 latching interface, doors on each port that close when the port is not in use, and an axial float that allows the connectors to self-align inside the adapter. The system is available with two, four or eight ports. A two port system costs about $30 each/1000.
