LED Connectors Add Wire-to-Board Capabilities

Jan. 13, 2010
A family of hermaphroditic blade and receptacle LED connectors adds wire-to-board plug and board-to-board connectors that promise to make connecting aluminum-clad PCBs easier
Expanding the company’s family of hermaphroditic blade and receptacle LED connectors are wire-to-board plug and board-to-board connectors that promise to make connecting aluminum-clad PCBs easier. The plug connectors use tin-plated brass crimp-snap contacts for 18 to 22 AWG stranded wire and a 94 V0-rated thermoplastic housing. They mate with board-mount connectors and feature positive latching for a secure connection. The surface-mount board connectors use a hermaphroditic blade and receptacle design to allow LED PCB strips to join with more flexibility than traditional post-and-receptacle headers. Connections entail sliding two boards together horizontally or vertically. Connectors are available in two, four, or six positions with ratings up to 6A and 125 Vac/dc and an operating temperature range from -40°C to +105°C. TYCO ELECTRONICS, Harrisburg, PA. (800) 522-6752.
