Preventing ESD damage to DisplayPort, HDMI, USB3.0, eSATA, and other multimedia equipment, the ESDAXLC6-1MY2 transient voltage suppressor (TVS) claims a benchmark for ultra-low capacitance, thereby preserving picture quality while maintaining ESD protection. The device places a loading of 0.35 pF maximum on the signal line, thereby providing a signal bandwidth of 6 GHz to 7 GHz. This allows the 2.7-Gb/s data streams of a DisplayPort interface to pass through without distortion. The TVS consumes 0.6 mm2 of printed-circuit-board space and only one device is required per signal line. Price for the ESDAXLC6-1MY2 is $0.15 each/12,000. STMICROELECTRONICS, Lexington, MA.
