Modular Industrial PC Targets Edge AI Workloads

Machine vision and edge AI typically use up more computing power than an embedded system. On that front, Darveen recently launched its MIC-9X02GLF modular industrial computer, which is capable of handling those workloads. To get the job done, it relies on a combination of Intel desktop processors and expansion slots for specialized hardware.
The MIC can be configured with a 12th-, 13th-, or 14th-gen Intel Core i3, i5, or i7 processor. And it features two DDR5 SO-DIMM slots for memory (up to 64 GB). With that memory and processing power, the system handles applications for local data analysis, such as industrial vision and AI workloads.
Its PCIe x16 slot supports a full-length GPU, especially those that require up to 300 W. Users can add other expansion devices via the PCIe x4 slot. These enable the MIC-9X02GLF to perform AI acceleration workloads. The computer also integrates Wi-Fi, 4G LTE, and 5G.
For storage, the system has two M.2 2280 SATA slots and two removable 2.5-in. drive bays, supporting RAID 0 and RAID 1. I/O options include COM ports, USB 3.0/USB 2.0, and three display outputs (VGA, HDMI, and DisplayPort).
The design allows organizations to set the system based on their needs. This includes processing, graphics, storage, and connectivity. The MIC-9X02GLF is built for industrial settings, operating as a flexible computing platform.
