The MAX13036 automotive contact monitor and level shifter monitors and debounces eight remote mechanical switches while consuming 17 µA of supply current. Employing programmable polling periods, the device's low current consumption combined with a input-voltage range of ±45V and ±8 kV of ESD protection on the switch inputs, plus adjustable wetting current make it suitable for use in harsh environments. It features an open-drain interrupt output that is active in the absence of a logic supply and can be used to wake up an external microcontroller. Each switch is individually programmable to generate an interrupt through the device's SPI-compatible interface. Available in a 28-pin, RoHS-compliant TQFN package measuring 5 mm x 5 mm, prices start at $1.83 each/1,000. MAXIM INTEGRATED PRODUCTS, Sunnyvale, CA. (800) 998-8800.
