Anritsu develops turnkey production-line solution for IEEE 802.11ax device verification

Feb. 22, 2018

Richardson, TX. Anritsu has introduced three software packages for its MT8870A Universal Wireless Test Set that create what the company calls the industry’s first turnkey solution for production-line testing of IEEE 802.11ax standard-compliant devices. The new packages support WLAN 802.11ax Tx measurements and WLAN 802.11ax waveform files for evaluating IEEE 802.11ax devices, and they feature a Full Automatic Measurement Program that eliminates the need for customer-developed control programs, helping to increase productivity and reduce test costs.

MT8870A Universal Wireless Test Set

Manufacturers of chipsets, modules, and finished products can conduct fast and efficient PHY layer tests of IEEE 802.11ax devices and equipment with the MT8870A when the software is installed. The WLAN 802.11ax Tx Measurement MX887033A and WLAN 802.11ax Waveform Files MV887033A packages enable fast and fully automatic testing in accordance with the IEEE 802.11ax test specifications. The MT8870A, with the software loaded, can conduct key RF measurements, such as Tx power, frequency, modulation accuracy, and Rx sensitivity, on WLAN 802.11ax devices.

Anritsu also introduced the Fully Automatic Measurement Program to simplify and lower test costs, as it eliminates the need for IEEE 802.11ax device manufacturers to create custom programs to control devices under test (DUTs). Anritsu developed the measurement software packages in cooperation with customers and placed an emphasis on interconnectivity tests with existing chipsets to assure excellent reliability.

Development of the new software complements existing capability of the Universal Wireless Test Set MT8870A, which also supports the WLAN IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/p measurement standards, as well as all 2G/3G/LTE/LTE-Advanced/NB-IoT/Category M, WLAN/Bluetooth, GPS, and FM evaluation tests. Adding these software packages extends the test range of the MT8870A and lowers costs by supporting simultaneous multi-standard measurements for multiple systems on up to 16 devices.

Designed for the high-volume manufacturing test of cellular and connectivity wireless systems, the Universal Wireless Test Set MT8870A supports LTE, NB-IoT, Cat-M, WLAN, and Bluetooth, as well as V2X. An MT8870A instrument mainframe can feature up to four high-performance test modules, each supporting fully independent parallel simultaneous measurement of up to four wireless devices. Every module has an integrated vector signal generator and vector signal analyzer to perform transmitter and receiver RF tests, which can be independently controlled via an external PC.
