Presenting a path between I/O controller modules and serial ATA (SATA) disk backplanes, the Metral 4000 connectors allow interoperability between modules from one manufacturer and backplanes from another. The connectors support power, communication, control, and differential signals for up to 16 SATA ports and deliver data rates up to 1.5 Gb/s, while anticipating next generation signaling at 3 Gb/s. Part number 52057-102 is a 30-position, right-angle receptacle, deployed on the I/O controller board. Its contact geometry is optimized to match a 100V impedance for differential signal pairs. Features include an insertion loss of less than 1 dB at 5 Gb/s and three levels of staggered pin lengths for sequential mating of ground, power, and data signals to accommodate hot-swap of controller boards. Pricing is $0.13 per mated contact pair. FCI USA INC., Etters, PA. (800) 237-2374.
