With an onboard ARM7 controller, the ASRB-USB USB-to-Ethernet Gateway Module allows designers to quickly interface USB peripherals to a network. The UHC122-based board includes a USB Type A connector socket permitting it to act as a USB 2.0 Full-Speed (12 Mb/s) host. The module is built on WIZnet’s high-stability, high-reliability, fully hardwired TCP/IP stack chip, the W3150A+. The auto-sensing 10/100-Mbit/s Ethernet interface supports DHCP. Running on 5 V, the RoHS-compliant ASRB-USB converts legacy USB devices into network-enabled devices, overcoming the 5-m USB cable length limitation. Out-of-the-box, the board supports USB printers, but with small changes to the supplied source code the module will accommodate peripherals such as hard-disk drives and scanners.
